How to Transport Fragile Cargo?
Packaging, stacking and vehicle selection for glass, ceramics and delicate products.

Fragile cargo transport success is determined by the decisions made before departure. Packaging, stacking order, and vehicle selection must be considered together. In the Kütahya region, for ceramic, glass, and sensitive equipment shipments, we plan this trio from the start.

What does packaging achieve?

Leaving at least three centimeters of padding between the product and the box wall absorbs impact. A product moving inside the box can be damaged even in the strongest packaging. Double-corrugated cardboard and corner protectors are simple but effective solutions.

During stacking and transport

  • No other load is stacked on fragile pallets; mark this with a label.
  • Products on the pallet are separated so they do not touch each other.
  • The number of transfers is reduced; direct shipment is preferred if possible.
  • Tight stacking is done so that no empty space remains inside the vehicle.
  • Attach a 'do not stack' warning on top of the pallet.
  • If possible, observe the loading and unloading process.
  • Completely fill the empty space inside the box with padding.

Insurance and documentation

For high-value fragile shipments, taking out additional insurance is sensible. Taking photos before loading speeds up the process in case of a dispute. Let’s plan your shipment together.

Vehicle selection and route

In fragile cargo, vehicle choice is as decisive as packaging. Closed-body vehicles with suitable suspension reduce vibration. When the load is transported with fewer stops, the number of handlings also decreases.

Reducing rough road passages when planning the route makes a real difference. On the same distance, a smoother route significantly reduces the vibration the product is exposed to. Even if this choice slightly extends delivery time, it lowers the risk of damage.

Most damage in fragile cargo occurs not on the road but in preparation. When packaging, stacking, and vehicle selection are correctly set up together, the risk is significantly reduced. Let’s plan your shipment together.
